Run West is a coastal trail running event set along South Africa’s West Coast, connecting the communities of Strandfontein, Papendorp, and Doringbaai.
With distances including a 21km, 10km, and 2km family run, the event offers a unique mix of beach running, coastal trails, and rugged cliffside routes - showcasing both the raw beauty and environmental challenges of the region.
More than just a race, Run West is a non-profit initiative focused on environmental awareness, community upliftment, and education through NEST, creating opportunities for local communities and inspiring a deeper connection to the coastline.

OLIFANTS 21KM | 07H30
All runners must be 18 years or older to enter the Olifants 21km.
From the Olifants River mouth to the Atlantic coastline, this route takes you through wetlands, ‘swaar sand’, and dramatic cliff lines.
A longer, more immersive experience of the West Coast, both it's beauty and it's vulnerability.
EUPHORBIA 10KM | 08H00
All runners must be 16 years or older to enter the Euphorbia 10km.
A scenic route through coastal fynbos, seaside coves, and rugged cliffs, offering a balance of accessible trail running and raw West Coast beauty.
Along the way, you’ll also witness the environmental realities shaping this coastline.
GUPPY GALLOP 2KM | 08H30
All children must be between 6 - 14 years old to enter and must be accompanied by an adult - Max 2 children per adult.
The Guppy Gallop Kids Run is an exciting, nature-inspired running event designed to introduce children to the joy of outdoor activity while fostering an appreciation for the environment. Hosted by NEST and Run West, this fun and educational race takes young runners on a thrilling adventure through scenic trails and coastal areas, encouraging them to connect with nature and embrace an active lifestyle.
